A company from Ottawa has decided to open the PlayBook and tallied all its components’ price to determine the actual cost to produce one. Excluding the cost of R&D, transportation, additional labor costs and retail costs, they found that the 16 GB version of the BlackBerry PlayBook costs around $190 while the 32GB version costs $205. The last and most expensive version which retailed for $700 costs $235.
But factoring in additional costs that they’ve excluded, the BlackBerry PlayBook is priced reasonably.
To remind you, the BlackBerry Playbook is a 7-inch tablet powered by a 1GHz dual core processor with 1 GB of RAM and is RIM”s flagship tablet device.
